Paid in-home measuring — Ottawa
Confirm exact fit before you order a single door
Rough openings lie. A paid measure visit locks in width, height, squareness, and clearance — so your written quote is based on what is actually there, not what the tape measure said last year.
From $75
Per visit. Credited toward your order in full.
20–40 minutes
Typical visit for a standard single opening.
Ottawa & NCR
All Ottawa wards, Kanata, Barrhaven, Orléans, and surrounding areas.
What the visit covers
Every measure visit produces a documented record that goes directly into your written quote.
Exact rough opening measurement
We measure width at top, middle, and bottom; height on left, centre, and right. We record the smallest dimension — the one that determines your door size.
Out-of-square assessment
We check whether the opening is plumb and square. If it is out of tolerance, we flag it in your written quote and recommend the right track or shimming approach.
Photo documentation
We photograph the opening, trim, casing, floor transitions, and any obstructions. These photos become part of your written quote so nothing gets missed.
Track and hardware clearance check
We verify there is enough depth for bypass tracks, bifold pivots, or barn door hardware before you order anything.
How it works
01
Request a measure visit
Email us with your postal code and a rough photo of the opening. We confirm your area is covered and propose a visit window.
02
We visit your home
A PG Closets team member arrives within the agreed window (typically 1–2 hour slots). The visit takes 20–40 minutes for a standard opening.
03
You receive a written quote
Within 1–2 business days you get a written quote with exact product, size, finish, hardware, pricing, and installation options — based on confirmed measurements.
04
Fee credited toward your order
The measure fee is credited in full against your final order. If we cannot recommend a door that fits, we tell you before you commit to anything.

Common questions
- Is the measure fee refundable if I do not order?
- The fee covers our time to visit and document your opening. It is credited toward your order if you proceed. If you decide not to order, the fee is not refunded — but you keep the written quote and all measurements.
- What should I do to prepare for the visit?
- Clear the area in front of the opening so we can access both sides. Have any existing doors removed if possible. If you have old hardware, leave it in place so we can note what needs to come out.
- Can I get a rough estimate before booking a measure?
- Yes — use the instant estimator first. It gives you a price range based on door type and approximate dimensions. When you are ready to confirm and order, book the paid measure.
- Do you measure multiple openings in the same visit?
- Yes. Additional openings in the same home are measured at the same visit. Email us the count so we can plan the time.
- What if my opening is non-standard?
- We note it. Renin systems have size ranges, and some openings require custom sizing or field modification. We quote the appropriate solution — or tell you clearly if a door system will not work.
